In the 1980s, Cree, Inc., a company engaged in producing semi-conductors, developed a proprietary process for producing large crystals of silicon carbide... that is, moissanite.

In the summer of 1995, a master gem cutter examined samples of these laboratory-created crystals and suggested to the firm's management that, if properly cut, the material could be faceted into a uniquely new and beautiful jewel.

And so, in 1995 the company was incorporated and embarked on extensive research and development to perfect the big, bold beautiful look of Charles & Colvard created Moissanite.

In 1998, this brilliant fiery jewel we know as Charles & Colvard created Moissanite officially debuted.
