Youtube personality, bride-to-be, and true Moissy Maven Tori Okoye recently visited Charles & Colvard® HQ in Morrisville, NC. Here is her recap of her fabulous trip!
A few months ago, Charles & Colvard® connected with me after watching my “Why I chose Moissanite/Engagement Story” video. Over the course of 2015, we had been in contact about collaborating to expose more brides-to-be be to this brilliant alternative gemstone! Last week, they were gracious enough to fly me out to their headquarters in North Carolina. I toured the lab and saw how each moissanite gem is created from the raw material. I was amazed by the production, and how each individual stone is inspected and cared for.
We love metals and settings just as much as the next person, but we’re gem fans first and foremost. After all, the stone is what gives a piece of jewelry its sparkle! Let’s take a look at some of the most popular and well-known moissanite stone shapes, from the traditional round cut to some fabulous fancy cuts.
Round Brilliant Cut
This is by far the most popular moissanite shape; in fact, the grand majority of Charles & Colvard’s sales are for round brilliant gems in one form or another. This particular cut is designed to draw the maximum amount of fire from the gemstone, so it’s no wonder it’s so popular.
A classic round brilliant cut will never go out of style. It’s also incredibly versatile, looking great in pieces from rings to earrings to pendants.
Wedding season is in full swing, and many brides-to-be are picking out the bands that will adorn their ring fingers for many years to come. Since choosing a wedding band is such a big decision, let’s go through some of the most popular options!
Classic Metal Band
This style is traditional and timeless. A simple band of precious metal has been a popular wedding ring choice for centuries, and remains a favorite even today. Common metal choices include yellow & white gold, platinum, palladium, titanium, and silver. Rings that feature more than one metal, such as two-toned rings, are also growing in popularity.
Lately, it seems like rose gold is everywhere, from jewelry store displays to the pages of InStyle and Cosmopolitan. And for good reason – it’s versatile, stylish, and more neutral than either yellow or white gold. Fun fact: that soft, pinkish hue comes from the copper that is combined with yellow gold to create rose gold.
We’re big fans of the rose gold trend, especially when it’s combined with moissanite. Here are seven pieces of jewelry that do just that.
Most of you probably picture a diamond when you think of a white gemstone. However, some of you might jump to some of diamond’s lesser-known but still beautiful alternatives. Popular white gemstones (besides diamond) include white sapphire, cubic zirconia, white topaz, and of course, moissanite. Each of these jewels has its own characteristics, and the differences start at the molecular level:
Beautiful Science! The chemical makeup of five different white gemstones
A stone’s chemical makeup is not just cool science-y stuff – it’s also responsible for the gemological properties the gemstone exhibits. Some of these include: brilliance (how “sparkly” the gemsto
